WOMEN: DRESSING TO IMPRESS OTHER MEN..

It does not take good instincts to know when a woman is trying to attract the attention of other men.

KEVIN LOGAN, A body language expert- writes "IT IS VERY INTERESTING TO WATCH MEN AND WOMEN IN PUBLIC. WOMEN ARE FAR MORE INTERESTING AND FLAT OUT FUN TO WATCH."

BODY LANGUAGE: Decoding, interpreting and mastering non- verbal communication.
When you discover the secrets of body language, you can be the one who-
- never gets lied to
-knows when they are attracted to you
-knows when they are uncomfortable
-is in control 100% of the time!
Make up helps cover your inner self- almost like a veil. Mastering body language helps keeps those barriers up.

MAKEUP AND GROOMING...

LESLEY EVERETT discusses makeup and grooming. In her book (DROP DEAD BRILLIANT)
- It is a fact that women who wear makeup in business generally get better jobs, get promoted more quickly and get paid more. Whether we like it or not, we live in a very visual world and we get judged on our appearance.

In fact, in a survey carried out, 64% of directors said that women who wore makeup look more professional and 18% of directors said that women who do not wear makeup- "look like they can't be bothered to make an effort."
EVERETT also points out that men should also consider makeup which is something they should be aware of for diminishing minor skin imperfections that could be distracting. Foundation or base makeup should be considered if your skin is blotchy.
Make up gives skin a natural and healthy appearance. People in the media, TV etc wear it too.

WHY DO WE DO OURSELVES UP?

Moving on from the basics, some would say that we should dress up, and apply makeup accordingly to show respect for ourselves. Some would suggest otherwise though, that we should dress to impress others.

The thing with our society these days is that people's opinions matter most. As such with the choice of makeup, it is based on comfort, status, wealth, fashion style and confidence. Regardless of the change of time during the day- and evening makeup, if wearing less means more- if less means intelligence and class, it does not really matter as long as the people who you are with are impressed.

One other factor which is important, is the price range. The saying- "QUALITY DON'T COME CHEAP AND CHEAP THINGS ARE OF POOR QUALITY." This is ofcourse one of the most important factors to consider when you are dressed to impress all those people out there.

Harry Goh is a regular writer for this topic, he writes- "of course we have to dress up according to our social standing, no doubt. But to dress up according to others expectations is a whole different league. "

WHY DO WE WEAR MAKEUP?

There are many reasons women choose to wear makeup. One of the top reasons is to enhance their natural beauty and be more physically alluring. For example, if a woman has pretty eyes, she may use eyeliner to make them stand out more. She may also apply mascara to her eyelashes to make them apear longer and fuller, further calling attention to the natural beauty of her eyes. Some women even wear makeup just because it is fun to look different for a time.

Some women wear makeup because it gives them confidence. This is along the same lines as putting your best foot forward. The first thing a person usually notices is a woman's face. If it has been enhanced with skillfully applied makeup, a woman often feels ready for the world and confident in proceeding through the day. This does not mean that she could not be confident without the makeup; it simply serves as a booster to her natural self- confidence.

Sometimes, women wear makeup to cover something up. For example, after a night of little sleep, a woman may have dark circles under her eyes. Though these will probably dissapear once she catches up on her sleep, well-applied makeup can hide them right away. It can also serve to brighten the face and camouflage blemishes, visible pores, uneven colouring, pimples, and even some scars.

A woman may wear makeup to give her face a more youthful appearance. She may feel that growing old gracefully is easier is she can look good while doing so. As much, she may use makeup to hide lines, blemishes, and age spots as well as to give her a more youthful glow. On the other hand, some teenagers apply makeup to make their faces look older, so that they can give off the appearance of being more mature than they really are.

WOMEN WHO LOVE MAKEUP ARE NOT INHERENTLY IDIOTIC?

Here is the thing- if you are smart enough to realize that makeup is a cultural construct rooted in sexist ideals and designed to divide women from men and their money, are you not allowed to admit that you brought and wear GUCCI lipstick/eyeline/mascara?

All individuals are different, and women of course are different to one another. Small frame, and perfectly done lips and brows do not make a woman feminine. OR does it?
Freeman wrote a book for women who actually exist. There are women who travel to get to work, who wear little makeup and then there are women who go to parties and fancy dinners who are caked up with makeup. The truth is that makeup or fashion both, are not just for VOGUE and HARVEY NICHOLLS consession of YSL or MAC, but it is indeed a form of self expression, it is the idea of loving to get dressed, to get dressed up, it is realising that your makeup can reflect your thoughts, your mood, and your passions. And if someone is passionate about makeup, it is not labelling them shallow of superficial. As it is a form of art, is it not?

BARBIE, BRATZ, THE OLSEN TWINS.........

A barbie doll is given to a young girl from the age of two years. It wears a load of makeup, high heeled shoes, a handbag and mini dresses the colour of her lipstick. This emblem of 'beauty' or 'femininity' is given to a young girl at a small age to confirm her identity aswell as grow to live up to the stereotype of the typical woman. Every girl is expected to love Barbie, look like barbie and behave like barbie. Many feminists argue that the representation of women within the media is perhaps determined to please the opposite sex.

These days being good looking is not enough to impress men. Most often if you do not wear makeup- wear rosy cheeks or have the full red lips that every woman admires, men will not approach you, perhaps they'll take you out shopping and buy you makeup- for you ofcourse!!!
Women are made to believe that the makeup they wear, the clothes they dress in reflects their whole personality. While at the same time ofcourse satisfying men and feeling magical when impressing the opposite sex, they are showered in compliments. This is what women want right?

Jessa crispin writes, "How do you tell if a woman in a movie is supposed to be intelligent?"
- First of all, she probably is brunette- glasses- yes. Little to no makeup and her clothes will not be matching her lipstick. Crispin also states, "you know she is the smart one because she thinks about more important things than her appearance."
We live in a world where 'trendy' girls have 'the- IT' bag- and an image of a woman should be- shallow with no brains.

THE FASHION MAGAZINE industry often makes it worse for women, "ELLE TALKS TO ASHLEE SIMPSON." And this whole disconnect between the fantasy world of Vogue- where women spend their days swaying in feilds wearing £2,500 sequinned leggings and reality.
AND there are women who are smart and intelligent who care about fashion and makeup, Right?

"SHOW ME A WOMAN WITH A GOOD THREE INCHES OF CLEAVAGE ON DISPLAY, AND I'LL SHOW YOU A WOMAN WHO, RIGHTLY OR WRONGLY, HAS LITTLE FAITH IN HER POWERS OF CONVERSATION."
